1st March - St David, Ash Wednesday

Ash Wednesday, or ‘Day of Ashes’, is first day of Lent, celebrated by the Christian church. Today is also St David’s Day, the patron saint of Wales.


2nd March – World Book Day

17th March – St Patrick’s Day

A celebration of Saint Patrick (c.AD 385–461), the foremost patron saint of Ireland. Every year St Patrick’s Day is celebrate around the world, though most importantly in Ireland of course where events take place up and down the country.
